I started to outline my next book this afternoon. I do a detailed outline so that when I start to write I have a "moving picture" in my head of the chapter I'm working on. But my writing process is far more like real life than a movie, because anything is subject to come up and if it comes up and looks, feels or sounds legitimate and moves the plot forward it becomes a part of the landscape.
I'm just coming off the completion of my novella, mine is the fourth one in line, and I was really worried that I wasn't going to get it completed in time, that I wasn't going to meet that deadline, but I did! Now I'm in the mind frame to flow with the same kind of energy pumped into that project, to hang with that genre, so the book I'm outlining is perfect for where I am. I want to take advantage of that mental space, it feels real good.
I do have a couple of other pressing projects on tap at the moment -- one I don't even want to think about, but I must. I've pushed its deadline up so many times I'm beginning to want to hide when someone asks me about it. I just don't feel its time has come and until it does, I cannot let it go. Plus, something else is going on with it in another media, so that has a lot to do with my hesitancy to take it in its original direction. But, let me not even start tripping on that today!
Church was wonderful this morning and I'll never quite look at "Peace Be Still" in the same way, and that is a good thing.

Publishing Poetry
I wrote an article some time back entitled Publishing Your Own Book of Poetry. In January 2005, I was a guest columnist at Publishing Basics Online and the article appeared there. I was extremely flattered to be included in that savvy publication, as their Publishing Basics handbook, which is a guide for the small press and independent self-publishers, is a must have!
This morning there was an email in my box from All Info About Poetry indicating that they were including the article as their feature story. I was surprised and very pleased to be included in this publication also, since it too is very savvy, and particulary since its focus is the European market. It is based out of Britain.
A part of my new writing plan is to produce more how-to, inspirational and spiritually focused articles, as the ones I have written already all seem to be well received. I think it's time.

Ride this Bull till it Faints!
It's Monday morning and I've decided to be the catalyst of change in my life because if not I will in fact become its victim. I'm doing things differently. I'm dispensing with the routines I've established, examining the way I'm approaching even the smallest of tasks, and especially giving ear to my own self talk. I'm jumping on this change, throwing my hand up in the air, and I'm going to ride this bull till it faints!

Divine Intervention
Hey,
If you pray I ask you to say a prayer for me today. I've been trying to starve off some things, hoping that they will resolve themselves, but time to start being real real. I need help and I need prayer.
So much has changed in this world, at least the world I've experienced. There was a time when, if you put forth bona fide effort, made genuine sacrifices, paid all the necessary dues you ultimately received something in return. Might not have been all you hoped for or maybe wanted, but you did at least receive some reward for your effort. Enough to sustain yourself to try again. It was what allowed you to survive, to continue, to have dignity and to maintain your integrity. Somehow that principal has been severly compromised in the here and now - you can work your rear end off until the cows come home, and you still might come up completely empty handed.
I'm not alluding to the creative efforts that those of us who create know may or may not reap benefits during our lifetime. What I'm alluding to is the battle of sheer day to day existence. So, if you can and if you will today I ask that you lift this here woman up in prayer.
Thank you.

Real or Imagined?
Excerpt from The Knoll Frames!
Now this is a little creepy. For the last week someone has been googling the names of the characters in The Knoll Frames. The first name I saw when I checked my weblog at my site (to see who'd been searching it) didn't immediately strike a bell because he was a very minor character, but then, a day later I saw another name, then next day another, and today another.
Hey! This is a work of fiction pure and simple! These people do not really exist. They never have!
Well now, it might just be someone who was at the staged reading of the play when it was done at a local theatre a while back, or maybe it's someone who is currently reading the script? Still, it is a little unsettling and most definitely intriguing!
The book isn't due out for another few months!

New Day Coming
It is time for change in my life. What doesn't change dies. I choose to be the catalyst of change rather than its victim. No more dilly dallying for me. I'm snatching from life what I need from here. The sun is rising, not setting on my dreams!

Post A Wish!
Ever wanted a spot to just "spit it out?" A wish that is ... to just jot down your wish, sort of put it into the atmosphere, in hopes some mighty wind of change or blessing might make it come true. Well have at it! Post A Wish!

...and I'd like to thank ...
Like every other screenwriter, I've got Oscar fever right now too! Maybe one of these days it won't just be a dream. We were watching a movie the other day and I went in and checked my email and there - to my absolute shock and surprise - was a request from the producer of the movie we were watching to read my script! I just sent it off, so keep your fingers crossed for me please. Hopefully, one of these days I'll be saying
... all of the wonderful people who read my blog and kept me in their prayers!

Provocative, compelling, and suspenseful!
Much has occurred since last we spoke, the best being receipt of the analysis and evaluation of my script "The Knoll Frames" from a WGA, Prime Time Emmy, and ASC award-winning producer. The evaluation was delightfully strong;( with the available ratings being Excellent, Good, Average, Fair and Poor) Premise and Setting were rated Excellent, Story Line, Character, and Dialogue all rated as Good. Overall writing evaluated as provocative, compelling, and suspenseful and the Recommendation a "Strong Consider" with the potential of be elevated to "Recommend" with a few suggested changes.
Got word today that another project in the works has taken a quantum leap forward also.
The rest of life has been quite intriguing. Numerous changes, hopefully for the best. I've been spending my days delving deep into the psychology of -- well, I'll just say psychology. Why we do what we do when we do it is a never ending puzzle of simplicity. I've been so busy living I hadn't taken time to grow with myself. My self-concept was malnourished and in dire need of attention. Yours may well be too. Take a moment to wrap your arms around you and give you permission to dwell in love, peace, and joy immediately. You might just take yourself up on it!
Talk to you soon!

Slipping
Sorry, I've slipped a bit. I really had no idea it had been so long since I last posted. I've been consumed with day in and day out survival. Things are still progressing forward. I received a very positive follow-up inquiry from an entity that had requested a copy of my script. The short email said simply that they had read and "really enjoyed" my script and asked if I had other material completed and available. At that moment I did not (egg dripping down my face) but you can believe that is why I am scare and will remain scare for a minute here! I've got some very good strong works-in-progress and I'm driving them straight to the finish line as we speak.
Keep the positive thoughts coming my way please!
Thanx!!!

Serious Thought
I've become quite prolific lately. I know I have to strike this iron while it is hot! I'm writing non-stop. Kicking out and posting a new screenplay short, in the middle of a new romantic comedy (screenplay), awaiting word on another fiction project (this one a joint effort) that attracted an agent's attention and putting the finishing touches on projects slated for release early this year.
I'm thinking of doing something that ordinarily I would not consider, but, I'm sort of following my "gut" on this one. A quite credit worthy producer approached me about analysis and evaluation of a particular script. No promises, no guarantees, but just fair analysis and evaluation. I've just about decided to do this to get this script either on the dime or have a good idea of why it has been missing the ultimate "mark!"
What sets this individual apart is that I see where he is actively optioning and/or purchasing scripts of emerging screenwriters on an ongoing basis. It appears that if you have something to work with he will defintely give it some energy.
I planned to make a final move on that today, but we have an ice storm brewing and travel on our highways is not advised. I'll see where I am on this at the end of the day.

Whoa Ho!
Now this is interesting! My book of poetry just showed up as ranking 191,719 in Sales on Amazon! That is a Quantum Leap from where it was less than a week ago -- and believe me, when I say quantum I do mean quantum! I wonder what is driving this upturn! Now that may not seem like such great numbers to you (LOL) but just ask a hand full of strugggggggggggling writers. They'll assure you I have reason to dance this happy dance of the moment.
I'm thankful no matter what!

Merry Christmas!
Here is hoping you will have a Merry Christmas! May something occur today that will shine a light on your true purpose here on earth and burn a desire in your heart to follow it. I've been told it begins and ends with the knowledge of God.

Industry Response to My Script!
Hey now!
Sorry for the long absence! I finally wrote a query letter for my script and sent it to a number of industry professionals last week. I was hoping to get at least one response requesting to take a further look at the script -- but felt that was a wing and a prayer hope. Would you believe that within three days of sending the query out I have received no less than 10 requests !
A couple of respondents requested I forward a complete synopsis, one respondent requested that I sign a release form and forward the script via eMail, but the balance are requesting it be sent snail mail. All are bona fides, signatories with WGA and/or verifiable through a couple of other industry sources that separate the wheat from the shaft, so to speak.
Here's hoping!

The Reality of It All...
Christmas is upon us and all about us there seems to be such utter disarray. It is so difficult to comprehend how we have come to the places we now find ourselves or, even more confounding, why? I was about to get caught up in that spin of dissolution, but as I began to consider my contribution for the December issue of W.O.M.E.N. eMagazine it struck me that I didn't have to buy into the madness. I know what is real for me, what has worth, what deserves my adoration and praise. I know that He is ... well, rather than me repeating myself here let me offer you this:
